Just a few of the local attractions you can see while staying in Stirling....
Stirling Castle
A visit to Stirling Castle is an essential part of any visit to central Scotland. Its location rivals even Edinburgh Castle's for sheer magnificence as it sits on its high volcanic rock, visible for many miles in every direction.
The Castle is in the care of Historic Scotland and is open to the public all year round and seven days a week.
Bannockburn Heritage Centre
This atmospheric spot is the site of Robert the Bruce's famous victory over the English. Here, in 1314, Bruce gathered his men to take on the professional army of King Edward II. Despite facing a greater number of troops, Bruce's men routed the English forces – a victory that meant freedom for Scotland from oppressive English rule.
In 2004, archaeologists found an iron arrowhead on Trust land that could well have been fired at the Battle of Bannockburn.
The Heritage Centre provides a wealth of information about the history of the site, and the battlefield itself lies just beyond the walls.
The centre is open from March to October, but the grounds are open all year round.
Stirling Bridge
The Battle of Stirling Bridge was a battle of the First War of Scottish Independence. On 11 September 1297, the forces of Andrew Moray and William Wallace defeated the combined English forces of John de Warenne, 7th Earl of Surrey and Hugh de Cressingham near Stirling, on the River Forth.
Wallace Monument
Standing tall and proud outside the city of Stirling, and overlooking the scene of Scotland's victory at The Battle of Stirling Bridge.

Make The National Wallace Monument the high point of your visit to Stirling.
